 I was wondering about that - Thats why my ski goggles resemble the bottom of two wine bottles
I just love the gravitational pull

Just got back from La Thuile - on Saturday, I saw some guy coming down a black run, being dragged along by a sprinting Golden Retriever on a lead. They both then got straight onto the chairlift, the dog sat there quite happily, and did the same thing again.

Didn't see the dog sh1t anywhere, although I guess it probably will have had to at some point...

Normally if you see a dog on the mountain, it's a search, and rescue dog. Not all the handlers may wear uniform.
because I'm so inclined .....

Do you know that didn't even occur to me. I've seen a number of dogs pulling skiers down the mountains in Austria. They seem really well behaved, surprisingly focused and their owners are clearly very competent skiers. That makes a lot of sense.
I wish I could meet the person who first decided to strap 2 planks to their feet and throw themselves down a mountain

There used to be a very large black hairy dog in Les Arcs that had a wonderful time! It's human was a lifty and it would go up the chair with him and spend all day fooling around in the snow before thundering down the piste when it's human finished work.
When bored it would bark at skiers hoping to have snowballs thrown to chase.

Trencher, it is now an alternative sport. Not too many, but in general, they aren't rescue dogs, just dogs and ski-owners having fun. There is a regular in Niederau. Mostly flats and downhills, but I have seen the dog pul the ski-owner up the length of the draglift. My OH and I are dog trainers, and we don't see an issue.
The search and rescue dogs are terrific to see in action.
