Courchevel celebrates 80 years with a new board game

Iainm posted 09:10

Courchevel is celebrating its 80th anniversary this winter and is celebrating the occasion with the creation of the 'Super Game' to tell its story.

The 'Super Game' is a new board game designed to bring Courchevel's history, heritage and local stories to life.

The game has been conceived and designed by the Courchevel local council and its media library, with the people who know the resort best playing a central role.

Residents of Courchevel have contributed their own expertise, memories and anecdotes to the project, helping to create a game that reflects the character of the resort.

Courchevel's story stretches back to the creation of the resort in 1946, when the first purpose-built ski resort in France began to take shape.

Eight decades later, it has become one of the best-known ski destinations in the world, but the 'Super Game' aims to explore the resort's history beyond the five-star hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants.

To move forward, participants must answer questions on local culture, gastronomy, architecture, flora and fauna, and sport.

The board features three iconic challenges that evoke the resort's legendary slopes and facilities:
• The opening run down the Saulire slope
• The challenging Super-G course on the legendary Éclipse slope
• The spectacular ski jumping event on the Olympic ski jump at Le Praz

Copies of the game will be available this winter in selected locations in Courchevel.
