Thredbo enjoys new snowstorm with 25cm of fresh snow

Iainm posted 30-Jul

Thredbo Resort in NSW, Australia received 25cm of fresh snow on the weekend, taking the total snowfall for July to 111cm.

In addition, thanks to freezing overnight temperatures, the snow cannons have created additional snow.

Temperatures dropped as low as -9C earlier this week, allowing the resort to score its biggest snowmaking night of the season, pumping out 11,000 m3 of water.

The significant snowfall throughout July has enabled Thredbo to build a strong snow base for skiing and snowboarding, setting the resort up well for the next two months of the season.

All lifts are now open, with over forty trails open.

This week is forecast to deliver several bluebird days and freezing overnight temperatures ideal for snowmaking.

The long-term forecast looks positive as well, with another significant snowstorm expected in early August, bringing up to 30cm of fresh snow.
