Just like to endorse this, with some evidence of big savings if you can get them, with some of my more recent purchases:crispyapplepie wrote:andymol2 wrote:I go for the kit I can get a bargain on (within reason). Usually that means black!
Unlike a colleague of mine who took back his hire boots to swap for a different colour! Middle age does strange things!
Sorry to go off piste but totally disagree... there are plenty of places selling kit at good affordable prices these days. I went to the ski show at the NEC last yr and couldnt believe how cheap some of the kit was. Also Ellis brigham last yr were selling kit at the back end of their sale for next to nothing. North face pants for £50. discounted by £70. OK granted you cant always get your size but if your willing to look around and spend a bit of time researching then good deals on good kit can be found.
Black Bailo jacket - £80; rrp £349. TK Maxx
Red Nike ACG Sallopettes - £17; rrp £110. Nike outlet store
Green North Face jacket - £180; rrp £240. Ellis Brigham
Black North Face softshell - £82; rrp £199. North Face outlet store
Black North Face Sallopettes - £59; rrp £149. Onlie store in US
Red Dare2be paclite jacket - £25; rrp £110. TK Maxx
Ok so I didn't stumble over these bargains, but they're out there.
Interestingly, 50% of the gear IS black!!!!
