Fully open a resort?
Looking at the reports coming out of ADH (where I'm going in 11 days....if you din't know ;-) ) there are still only a handful of lifts and runs open.
Surely this is not down to lack of snow, there has been plenty just lately.
I am assuming it just takes time to prepare the pistes?
Do you think they will all be open for xmas? I really want to do the Serene but the top lift doesn't even seem to be open yet.
Hoe wrong does it take to....

It is usual for resorts to start by partially opening and then bring in more areas in the run up to Xmas.
Some of this depends on snow levels and particularly availability of snow at lower levels but there is also a practical element of how many people will want to ski.
For example last year Courchevel "opened" something like the 5th/6th of December but the 1650 side wasn't opened until 2 weeks later.
Also if there are 2 lifts that do pretty much the same job then only 1 will run in quieter periods.
These factors can really affect how many lifts open and pistes open is showing on resort websites.
Now - Espace Killy, Tignes and Val D'Isere - I have never seen them reporting all lifts open because they do shut some glacier lifts completely in the winter and, of course, the low lying lifts are only available in the winter.

It was interesting - the title!
My assumption at this time of year was that you had been to an xmas lunch today.

There is hardly anybody in ADH at the moment so opening the whole system up would be expensive.
There is plenty of early season snow and its currently snowing.
There should be lots more pistes open and lifts running from Saturday.

Snapzz I was in ADH over xmas two seasons ago and everything was open. The top lift was only open twice all week due to bad visibility up top but apart from that it was all good and I'm sure it will be the same this year.
Have a good trip
