Hello,

We are two girls who want to have a crazy month at the french alps. we would like to find a job as waitresses and basically ski a lot . our budgets are very low so I'd really love to get some perspective of the costs- how much should renting/buying gear would be (I use blades, my friend snowboards) rent, ski pass, other expances.
are there better ski resorts - with cheaper accomodation and ski pass but still enough slopes? where can we find also good nightlife? which country would be best? I initially thought of the french alps because I speak some french but if costs are much higher in france I would reconsider.
Thanks!!

RMH, While I much admire your determination, if you are on a tight budget, Austria should allow you much better value.
Your big cost hits are accomodation/Food/lift pass/drink. ~ These are not in any particular order! For Austrian costs:
Accomodation: about 20 Eu/night, b&b
Food: Lunch, Gulashsuppe 4 Eu, Abend menu 9/11 Eu
So to eat and sleep, 30 nights, about 900 Euros.
Season lift pass from 300 Eu
Drink: You are on your own, girls, I don't know your tastes and capacity! However,Austria is half of the price of France.

I would suggest Schruns in the Montafon, in the westernmost part of Austria. My husband and I spent a year there 15 years ago, living with the Egger family. Skiing and scenery are awesome, nightlife is great, and costs are much more manageable than most everywhere in the Alps.

RMH, just a thought... are there other job options you could consider e.g. TO rep? They seem to get quite a bit of time to ski/board, at least more than waitresses do. The waiting staff I've seen seem to work endless hours.
I wish I could meet the person who first decided to strap 2 planks to their feet and throw themselves down a mountain

Hmm. I acutally had a very good experience with Austria when I skied in zaalbach. The only problem is I don't speak the language.
As of coming as a representative, I think it's much harder to get that job on the ski resort and for a short time, isn't it??
can you give me more names of good ski resorts? what are the odds to acutally find a job when I get there?
THANKS!! :)
