I am thinking of going on a DIY ski holidays on the 12th Dec, I whould like to go to the Swiss or French alps, where will I have the best snow and a lot of runs, no apres ski, just a lot of skiing

Broom a recent thread on glacier skiing recommended the Hintertux & Stubia Glaciers for early season skiing. I am planning a trip to Hintertux in early November so December should be okay.

In a normal year, by mid-December, most of Tirol will be skiable. The key is the date. For mid December, you don't need to plan until the week before you go. Just wait and check the best conditions.

Val d'isere or Tigne are good. Had good pouder days there last year and im looking foward to going again. Cheap enough accomindation and if you book through the val site they give you a lift pass half price for the Killy escape
