I'm off here on the 15th December. Information about the resort is skant. Has anybody been there? And more importantly is it white up there yet or will it be in a week!

According to google there's ski jumps there!!! Jeeeez, i don't think i'm quite ready for that!

I may have my facts mixed up, going with g'friends family. Girlfriend said this was the runs inaugural season? Soooo confused.

You think you guys have problems, at least you can panic about snowfall, I have to panic about snowfall and this 'ghost' resort. If only I knew where it was soo I could fill my day scouring snow reports and webcams.

Ha ha! At least it`s not April mate so you don`t have " fool" tattooed on your forehead! If it`s the inaugural season, then it is obviously all going to be spanking new which is nice! Ski jumps sound fun, just take a shovel to scrape yourself up off the floor after!! Off to do some digging about this " ghost town" of yours!!

Turns out the reason i couldn't find any info is because of my bad spelling. It's actually Preg'e'lato , like the ice cream i suppose. This is the info i found on the place...

"In Sestiere itself the 2006 Winter Olympics saw the installation of various new lift systems including the Trebial and Garnel chairlifts, the Pragelato-Sestriere cable car and high tech Fraiteve. In addition, floodlighting was installed on the slalom course and two new lakes were built."

Sounds promising!!!

Pragelato or if you're Italian (well half italian) like me Pra'gelato is near Turin, close to the Albergian Mountain. It hosted the Cross-Country and Nordic skiing events in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino (In Feb), so it definately does exist. It has good Cross-Country Skiing and a ski jump (if you're into that sort of thing). I've just come back from Italy (visiting relatives, didn't manage to get to Ski :-( going to St Wolfgang in 11 days tho :-) ) and it seems that skiing in Italy in general is pretty good, although the Dolomites and the Eastern Alps have more snow than the Western Alps. Piancavallo near to my relatives has great snow, along with Cortina D'Ampezzo. Bolzano is also living it up with fresh snow. As for the Western Alps and Pragelato, they are having snow i believe, although i'm not sure of the exact details, you might consider looking at the details for Sestriere as that is quite nearby. Have Fun!
