I've booked Samoens for the last weekend of January.

thanks

I'm sure it will be absolutely fine by then.
Just start to obsessivly watch the forecasts and webcams like the rest of us.

It would be an extraordinary year should there not be sufficient white stuff for you, but, of course, powder is a bit hit and miss.

Now had a few minutes to look at historical data ....

End Jan, Samoens, last 5 years.
Good snow depth down to resort in all years except 2007.

2007 was an atrocious year. I was in Morzine for feb half term and nothing skiable at resort level and rain, rain, rain !!!! Pretty much everywhere was bad this year if I remember correctly.

I had good skiing conditions in 2007 but that was a long way from the GM

January? You'll be fine. Enjoy

the Grand Massif has an enviable snow record, and at Samoens you start at 1600 (though there are some good runs down to Vercland when there is good snow lower down). To my mind, though, les Carroz is a safer bet with short road access to Flaine Bowl should there be problems with the snow cover or links.

I have skied GM with powder every day and have also skied it a poor snow year, the best snow to be had was in Flaine 8)
