Due to heavy snowfalls and high winds on the Col du Lautaret it has been closed.
If you are diving to Serre Chevalier you will have to go via the Col de la Croix Haute (essentially Grenoble-Gap-Briancon).
More info and updates on the states of the roads in Isère and Haute Alpes here:

Both in English (mostly).

The Col du Lautaret is a fantastic drive, but I've seen mental amounts of snow up on it, but the highway people do an amazing job keeping it open.
If it closes, it really is a serious amount of snow up there.
Drive safe people.

The col is open again, as of 15h00, but there is a lot of snow up there and "proper equipment" is advised.
The biggest problem up on the col is the wind which forms huge drifts.
As Tony_H says, the highway people do an amazing job, but with more snow expected during the next week, look out for more temporary closures.
