Hi All,

Hi Jon, I hope you are enjoying your new job. There was lots of snow all over in France and Switzerland. It's awful about those sheep though, you'd assume woolly jumpers would be fine

Hi Bandit,

The new job is fab many thanks for asking....only wish I had applied
years ago :)....those sheep were very unlucky though but they did have their own cardies on :) .

I saw it snow last August in Les Arcs but only at the very top.....I hope it doesn't snow too badly when I am there again this August I was hoping to do some gold panning in the rivers in the area....wonder if I will need my long johns :D :D :D

As sad as it is i did have a smile at the choice of words regarding the sheep.

"Around 300 sheep that were out grazing on the pastures above Bourg St Maurice died after not supporting the sudden drop in temperature and lack of shelter."

Sounds like it was written by a tech support guy! They do not "support" such temp drops.

I wouldn't think it was the cold that killed the sheep - more likely they suffocated under the snow. I wonder why they didn't use the mountain rescue dogs to locate them, and then dig them out.

300 sheep would be worth a lot of money - surely at least £60 per head, around £18,000. Poor sheep and poor farmer - I don't suppose there would be any insurance cover for something like this. In fact, there may well have been a charge for disposing of the carcasses.

It's a very sad story
