I should have been on Ooopss TV.
Have been skiing now for over 7 yrs and always negotiated well an easy button lift...as anyone at intermediate level, (or even beginners level) would do; I surprisingly , hilariously made a right chump of myself.!!!
Couldnt believe it.. My Son aged 10yrs ahead of me, obviously let go and got off...
I did wonder where he was for a second, and then suddenly with no sign of that big circulating mechanism above, I assumed it wasnt quite time to come off.
I know i was day dreaming about something and not paying attention. ...hence the mistake.
I went crashing through two alluminium parallel bars , wondering what the hell they were doing there.
I ducked and slid onto my bum, wondering what the heck @!!
Legs in the air skis flapping about !! ha ha lol ! :D
We all laughed our heads off..
Last week skiing I mis the end of a button lift and crashed through tow parallel bars !!

Hi Tropicana,
I've often wondered what would happen if I didn't let go of a button lift in time. So what happened to you exactly? And did they stop the lift?
During my last holiday, in an advanced lesson, I came off the chairlift a bit wrong, overbalanced, wobbled a bit, and then fell over. I couldn't get back up either (because of course it was dead flat and I'm getting old and stiff now) and the instructor had to give me a hand to get back up. He was very nice about it,though, and didn't send me back to the beginner's class
That's one of the many things I like about ski-ing - we all make total fools of ourselves at some point during the holiday

Age, experience, skill ....
None of these stop the daftness of playing around on the white stuff.

4 years ago when I just started to learn, I skied straight through some tables belonging to a cafe at the bottom of the nursery slope. I have also been seen doing a limbo underneath various guide ropes, and get tangled up in that funny plastic netting that marks the edge or end of pistes.
Last year in Les Carroz there was a button lift that was quite steep and also started off with a vicious lurch. I fell off that twice before giving up and finding an alternative way up!
This year, I was standing beside husband, minding my own business - when he suddenly just toppled sideways for no reason and pushed me over as well, much to the amusement of by-standers.
When it comes to making a prat of myself in front of complete strangers, I could make it an olympic sport!

I nearly got castrated by my elder daughter - did a hockey stick stop , managed to fall & poked her ski through the crotch of my salopettes.
Needless to say the salopettes were never the same again and an inch higher and the same could have been said of me!
