You should not let this get you down - your original post was at least ambiguous about whether you went off-piste or not. It's not that surprising that some people would pick it up that way and clearly you agree that anyobdy going off piste in those conditions would have been irresponsible. Nobody is picking on you - they are just trying to advocate good practice on the mountains.

that was how I read it as well to be honest

For asking a poster to clarify (or not) that they went off piste when the avvy warning was at 5/5 I get a 1 star.

What is wrong with with the posters on this forum?

Since folks here clearly think that mountain safety is for tossers, can't see me bothering much FNO.

FNO? Sometimes it is a bit 'yawn especially when a valid comment is made and someone rolls round and gives it a one star. Not that it really counts for anything but looks daft.. surely some of my 1500 or so posts have been useful?

I got caught today when a small slab went about half a metre deep and the size of the wall in a decent sized living room. Scared the absolute sh*t out of me but luckily I was just above a piste and it stopped there. (Slid out onto a cat track off about a 45 degree pitch). Had it been on a longer slope it could have been a lot more sinister. Felt better that I was wearing a tracker despite skiing in bounds today. Avvy danger was 'only' 3.

In all fairness I did ride it out despite being caught in the middle of it Don't think I have ever been so pumped up/scared.
