It can't just be a coincidence: Yet another person has told me they've received a demand for payment by a Geneva car hire company, for so called 'damage', after they've returned to the UK.

Two people who told me already knew about this scam and even 'though they'd checked before they drove away they've still got a demand. Partly, of course, because it's virtually impossible to see smaller scratches and dents in the gloom of the GVA underground car park. This has just happened to my son who is, fortunately, an attorney and got a partner to write back quoting the conditions of the hire contract. Having seen how the staff career round in these cars on a busy day, I'd estimate the odds are 95% that it's them causing the damage, not clients.

Anyone else had this happen at Geneva?

Agreed, it's hard to see properly in a multi storey car park. At the start, we tend to take lots of time to go round the car before we move it from the parking space, any blemishes and we get a member of staff to note the documents. On return we make sure it's signed off properly by the staff, (which is hard to achieve if you have an early morning departure). There seems to have been an upsurge of problems after the hire cars moved to the P51 car park.

Didn't experience any problems when I used it in January but I normally dump the car and leave. Couldn't do that this time - had to wait 20 minutes until someone could come on look over the car and then sign off the paperwork. That was Budget.

Sounds like cars may be suffering genuine damage, but as stated, due to the way they are driven around there it's probably the staff who are responsible!

Bon. Allez!

Hi msej449

Never happened to me in Europe, but it did happen on your side of the pond, in Denver.
Eventually got it sorted, but its a real nuisance.

Mind the "Compulsory Transfer Bus Charge" at Geneva, for the shuttle between the terminal and P51. Added onto your c/c even if you walk to the car park
