what is classed as high altitude skiing? above 2000m?

Hi
Sorry more questions , lot of people are saying that for April we would need to go to high altitude resort, just wondering what is classed as high altitude? above 2000m?

Depends on the country really as the tree line falls as you move further east. I'm not sure that there is an official figure to differentiate 'high altitude skiing' from normal or low? Areas which have the majority or all of there skiing above 2000m are a good bet for later in the season as it's colder so in theory the snow stays in better nick longer when the sun starts to beat down.

Latitude also plays a part. The tree line in Norway is at approx 1000m which I guess is equivalent to 2000m in the Alps.

However, things are never that clear cut. Norway is warm at the moment which is not good for those heading there in a couple of weeks time (ie me!)
