When I began skiing I was on the ground more than on the skis and thought the snowboarders should have something harder than my head from which to glance off - so, I went to a helmet and have been glad of that move. There are dents in it now from not only the occasional head first landings but also from some over anxious lifties. The helmet is warmer than a toque and gives a better anchoring location for the goggles. I'm wearing the Grio 9 and even though I may look like a jockey without a horse I'm quite happy with it. More and more people are wearing helmets now and I expect in a very few years most hills may require their use.

Mike :)

So what should I look for in a decent helmet (I really like the earphones thingy)?

The fit is the most important aspect for me, followed by the air vents.
I tried on lots of helmets, sizes do seem to vary, as does the shape inside, so adjustable fit pads are useful.
As you are after, (I think) "Tune Ups", the Giro's would be a good place to start :D

Oh and a decent colour choice, no point looking like a complete
