my eldest lad is after a new pair of twin tip freestyle ski's he mainly ski's on dry slopes between ski trips will the dry slope ruin his ski's ? :cry:

Saw a thread on either here or on snowheads, with some photos of the damage done by skiing on dry slopes - as I recall they were worn down to the core.

The suggestion was that if you were going to ski on dry slopes...buy an old pair from ebay!!

Makes a lot of sense.

Ive got new skis and wouldnt dream of wearing them at Kendal dry slope. The bases would get ripped to shreads or melt if the water system stops for a while.

Buy some old ones that you dont care about.

Hi Picky,
It's a shame he wants twin tips....I've got a few pairs of kids skis I must get round to putting on ebay. Not twin tips unfortunately.

I keep an old pair of skis for the dryslope, wouldn't dream of taking my main skis on there. The heat caused by the friction will remove ptex from any repairs in an hour ski session. Base repairs for dry slope skis is better done with araldite.
Ebay is a good call, last time I looked you could get a decent pair of salomon 1080s for a few quid.
