I am very upset about it
It all seems so SILLY  I LIKE the ESF. Most of my ESF instructors have been really good and they've tried their best to improve my ski-ing. BUT I still want to be given the OPTION of being taken around by a British ski host if I want to. I am convinced they are providing totally different services. I mean, when we were in Tignes for our group holiday in January, the Bonjour ski hosts took us around the resort, but only ON the pistes, and they were only showing us which way to go, and where the restaurants were etc. So, when we wanted to learn how to ski OFF piste, we decided to have a lesson with the ESF. And it was a really good lesson and the instructor was great - he even picked us up from the chalet and spent 4 hours with us instead of 3 hours, and the total charge was only 160 euros for 5 people (although we ended up with only 4 of us). And yes, Andy, I am worried about my next ski holiday with Bonjour, which is less than 2 weeks away now! I was looking forward to ski-ing with their ski hosts again, and now it looks as though it won't happen :( |

I saw this post that Dave Mac put up in the 'too sad' thread, and thought I'd ask about it:
Admin wrote: It has become an issue in France and has been stopped by a lot of operators there; as a result of the ESF suing LeSki recently! The situation seems to have moved on: http://www.planetski.eu/news/4683 Does this mean that ski hosting is illegal in France now, as from today? |

It was very funny Dave, because you told me not to let the others know they were getting a present from you, until we got there. So I didn't. But I posted up my packing list on our FB group, to give some of the others an idea about what to bring, and I included the item 'surprise present for everyone' on it
So, of course, everyone that read my list carefully wanted to know what the surprise present was. And I said I couldn't tell them that because it was meant to be a surprise  And they were all very pleased when I handed them out :D The only problem is I should think everyone going on the 2014 group holiday will expect another 'surprise' present now  They are really lovely pictures :) |

I have to admit I didn't know all that, Snapzzz, about travel agents
That was most impressive, as Stewart Dowling said :) Let's hope this particular travel agent does a good job :D |

If the spare place is due to an injury, can't they just claim the money back under their insurance policy?
Oh - and sympathy to whoever it is that hurt themselves and can't go now :( They must be awfully upset  |

Lovely pictures Dave :)
And it reminds me, I meant to let everyone know you very kindly sent a set of your pictures made into cards to all of us who went on the 2013 group trip to Tignes in January :) Thanks very much. It was much appreciated :) |

I thought ski hosting was always included in the price of the holiday?
The Ski Club of Great Britain do ski hosting, in the main ski resorts, but I think it's for a maximum of 3 days and you do have to pay to become a member (unless you're doing one day as a trial to see if you want to become a member). However, once you've paid your membership you can get discounts off the price of your holiday with certain tour operators, and discounts in shops etc. which can actually make up for the membership money. I've been with them, and they do easy days as well as hard days. And as Old Andy said at the beginning of this thread, there are some hotels that have single rooms, so you wouldn't have to pay the huge single supplement the tour operators charge otherwise. |
