Helmet Query !

If the helmet was attached to the outside of your hand luggage I doubt it would fit in the baggage gauge & with some airlines they would make you put it in your case at check in.
As for baggage handlers, we were delayed at Toulouse airport & I watched them unloading skis, as the trailer had not arrived to take the luggage they amused themselves by throwing the skis from the plane onto the tarmac.
Kids and Queues?

My first ski trip was to M & as I was going to ski school I had to go in the cable car up to the Ahorn, this was my first experience in a cable car & the queueing system.
It was in March & was a school holiday period so kids were everywhere, the adults were bad enough trying to push past but the kids were worse, even had them crawling between my legs as well as some pushing in around the sides, total chaos & seemed to be no one supervising them.
As for the cable car when I thought it was full another 15 got in, I have never been so cramped in my life, ski bus the same as the lift.
As I said it was my first ski trip & it almost put me off skiing, knowing you had to do this every morning. In some resorts they have a separate entrance for kids going to ski school & this helps, although you will have to wait longer as they go first.

If your instructor is right & I also enjoy myself will that put salt on the wound, nah I wouldn't do that to you.

Yeah but the instructor was laughing and his nose was growing. Weird! Seriously all the slopes at Zell have snow cannons so you won't have a problem. I have skiied in deep snow and found it tough going, you don't need a lot of snow for it to be good! p.s. can I come in your suitcase?

You're welcome to reside in my suitcase, as long as you're not wearing a lid. :D

Just rub it in that we've been and you have not why don't you! March 5th? My ski instructor told me that snow was coming at the end Of February so finger's crossed. Can't wait to hear if you like it there!

ICE - how common?

Skied on this a few times, on low slopes that get the morning sun and then go into shade later in the day.
Sometimes called sugar snow - coz it's like big grains of sugar.
Is this what you mean brooksy?

Sounds a bit like it these balls of ice were around 1inch diameter
I compare it the stone size of ballast you put in concrete, the skis were rolling on them instead of sliding, basically no control.
There were 4 of us doing this run, one fell quite badly but it was very difficult to get to him, we were the only ones on it so no body else to help.
