Canting advice
Started by User in Ski Hardware, 3 Replies
thanks Jan I didn't mean to sound negative about my instructor overall he was very positive.
I will try out your suggestion, i should go to a proper bootfitter but the nearest is 100 miles away so it will have to wait.
Thanks
Canting advice
Started by User in Ski Hardware, 3 Replies
Just returned from a weeks skiing had a great time but when I look at myself on video I seem to be knock kneed (my instructor also pointed this out on quite a few occaisions). Should I alter the canting on my boots (and if so how) or should I try to force my knees apart which feels uncomfortable and I soon slip back into my old ways when I have other things to think about, slope turning etc.
Thanks

Pavel, I have put in the gel type heel lifters and they have made all the difference, thanks, can't wait to try them out in anger in a fortnight.

Pavel, I am sat here at the computer with my ski boots on ( buckles tightened as you indicated) and I can still lift my heel a little bit, any tighter and it starts feeling uncomfortable. Is this ok or would you say no heel lift at all? Does it come down to comfort v performance (I was hoping for both)

12 on a school trip to Morgins in Switzerland (1981)
Wasted a lot of winters since playing rugby but finally came to my senses a few years ago!
Once again thank you pavelski for further insight.
I have noticed in the last couple of seasons my wife and I haven't made much progress in the group lessons, but having said that she is quite happy at this level and enjoys the group environment. I on the other hand have been frustrated and want to progress as far as i can and have found myself reading as many articles as i can in an effort to further my knowledge and therefore hopefully improve my technique. I think the next step for me is some private lessons and your advice will help me in my choice.
Thanks
pavelski, found this very interesting. In the past we have pre booked ski school before setting off and in general have found the instructors to be pretty good (one exception in France this season) but sometimes the groups were too large and therefore we didn't progress as far as I wanted. Next season we have a couple of trips booked but no ski school and was unsure exactly how to select our instructor.
