is there a big difference between the two in skiing, scenery, lift access, town? thanks.
Does Verbier usually open late November? In a "normal" year will it be open Dec 10th? , 2nd weekend.

Which is prettier? Which might be a better choice for my mid-December trip?

Does anyone have experience that can compare Saas Fee with Tignes/ValThorens? All 3 are high elevation early openers.

I'm taking a quick trip to the French Alps through Geneva in mid-December. Val Thorens and Tignes both apparently have reliable snow at that time. I am an experienced skier looking for advanced terrain. Does anyone know which of those resorts is better for steep terrain, accessible in bounds, w/o a guide?
I think in it is much better to rent a car, although in some places you are likely to have to pay a small fee for parking. There may be some shuttle buses available, but realize Vail is I think at least an hour driving west of Summit County and Aspen is at least 2 hours further west. Check your maps. The four Aspen resorts together are very good, but likely more expensive than Summit County.
