Last time we had a couple of total beginners in the group, and I had the pleasure of ski-ing with one of them during one of the afternoons when there was no ski hosting.
I can ski slowly, and sometimes it makes a nice change because you get more time to admire the view etc.
And I am thinking of having lessons in the morning this time. They seem to be much cheaper than they are in France. Plus, whilst it's great fun galloping about a huge ski area, I would like to improve my technique.
Tell Mrs P she's very welcome if she wants to come :)
Last time we had only 3 women, and 14 men, so we could definitely do with some more women!

That fine can you send me the details etc for consideration as the area does appeal to me, it's just convincing Mrs W, as she thinks I am mad enough as it is for spending so much time on here :D

I'll write you a pm now :D

I was ski-ing in the rain in Tignes on Friday. Luckily I'd re-waterproofed my ski jacket and salopettes, and so I stayed nice and dry inside :)

But there were several very wet looking skiers/boarders around that day! One poor guy was soaked right through to his skin and apparently you could read the make of his underpants through his salopettes

However, up high it was snowing, and the next day the pistes were in very good condition :)

Best of luck with the weather everyone off ski-ing/boarding :)

Avalanche in Tignes 6th March 2013
Started by User in France, 4 Replies
I'm sorry if someone else has already reported this elsewhere.

When I was ski-ing in Tignes last week, there was an avalanche on Wednesday, 6th March, which killed a ski guide and his client, who were both ski-ing off-piste.

It was extremely windy on Wednesday, and it had been very windy for the previous few days, and I think this caused the avalanche in some way.

I find it very scary that an experienced guide could be killed like this. I remember when we were having our off-piste initiation lesson when we were there in the middle of January, we all had our own beacons, but when I asked about shovels they said the instructor would carry our shovels. And I said but what happens if he's the one under the avalanche and we need to dig him out, and they said it wouldn't happen.

I feel terribly sorry for those killed in this avalanche, and their friends and families
