Soreness in right calf only?
Started by User in Ski Technique, 19 Replies
Interestingly, the calf pain went away before the week was out. There is clearly something not quite right but it's not a critical situation and I skied the whole week quite happily. This was my 5th skiing week in 2 years and the one with the least aches and pains. I'm not getting any younger so hopefully it means that my technique is continuing to improve.

For those who like pictures of damaged limbs, please scroll down. For those who don't, I apologise in advance. You are looking at my normal (bony) left foot, and my very fat swollen right foot. This was December 2009 and a day after I'd fallen off a plastic sledge whilst trying to emulate my children's attempts at "sledge boarding".......... :(

I was on crutches for a month and still limping 6 months later. It took nearly 9 months for all the pain to go away.

We're back......!!

Great week. Will provide a report later in the Scandinavian section when I've caught up with work.

Hi Dave,
This is what Bonjour say on their website:

The coach will collect guests on change-over days from flights arriving at Geneva airport up to 13.30 pm and return them the following Sunday for flights leaving after 11.00 am

The transfer takes about 3 hours (rather than 2 and a half hours) because the coach also goes to their chalets in Val d'Isere.

I've already enquired about their transfer times on the return journey. I understand that the bus leaves Val d'Isere at either 5.30am or 6.00am with the aim of arriving at Geneva by around 9.00am. This allows a couple of hours for delays/checking in time etc. When we with Ski Bonjour a couple of weeks before you, we'll be skiing the whole of the last day and are getting a late evening flight from Geneva. I haven't sorted out the transfer yet.

Bleary eyed here. Up early for trip home. Minus 3 degrees at base and fine snow falling. Wish we were here for a bit longer....

The sun has gone and it's snowing again. Warm day yesterday, up to around + 5 degrees at base. Great conditions. Feeling very tired after a long day.

2 more skiing days to go.

I'm knackered and too hot. I need to buy a goretex shell jacket.

Actually, scratch that. I must buy a goretex jacket. Was looking at a black sweet protection jacket earlier and orange trousers. Half price (but still a lot of krone.....)

Omg

I've just discovered that the Norwegians do, after all, have something called "the sun".

Looks like our 1st day without snow and clouds. Might have to dig out the suntan lotion....

Thanks swingbeep. Just tried the above exercise. Right ankle is clearly less flexible.

I had six expensive physio sessions originally. Might be worth investing in a few more!!!
