Advice on new skis for next season.
Started by User in Ski Hardware, 7 Replies
ok, so really want to get some new skis for next season. I'd describe myself as an intermediate as will get down most reds without difficulty. Avoid moguls, but don't mind the soft stuff.
Thing is they need to be polly pocket size skis as I'm only 5ft and weigh around 52kgs.
Grateful for any advice.

Les Arcs 2000

Just returned at the weekend from Les Arcs 2000 and we had a blast. The weather closed in on us a few times and visiblity was poor, but the snow conditions were amazing. I usually go with my sister, but this year was with my daughter who wanted to party as much as she wanted to ski, so it's taken me until today to recover. We met up with a great group of people, including 10 boarders from Dublin. We did have a bit of an "oops" moment though to warn others of. We went over to La Plagne skiing one day and got a wee bit lost en route back. We only just made the last express back across to Vallandry. Unfortunately that meant that we had missed the last of the lifts on the other side to allow us to ski back to Arc 2000. We were not alone, there were another 5 people who needed to get back to 2000. We had to get a taxi to Bourg St Maurice and then were very lucky to hitch a lift up the mountain by a girl we met called Jill who was doing a season in Tignes............don't ask!
Loved the runs over on the Vallandry side of the mountain near the Grizzly. The visibility among the trees was usually better and the runs were much quieter. Unfortunately never got to St Foy!
Happy hour in the Crazy Fox at the end of the day became a daily event, so much so, we didn't need to order......the barman got them on the bar for us as he saw us come in!
The chalet was good crack with another bunch of Dubliners. We were really lucky with our chalet host too. He was a lovely lad and his cooking skills were pretty impressive.
Looking forward to next year already!

Tony, what a great report. Sounds brill and it's great to have that kind of detail about somewhere you've never been to for future reference. Cheers
