Pablo,
You're quite right. That's exactly what I did. It doesn't mean that Chamonix is the cheapest resort in France, but just that with Inghams it is, for the parameters I entered.

Tony,
I typed in 'all resorts' for each country, and then asked the website to put them in order of cost, lowest first. I ignored self-catering, and tried to make it fair by going for half-board hotel for each, 2 adults and 2 children.

I was as surprised as you at how expensive France was. I tried it twice and got the same answer. Chamonix was the cheapest. Try it yourself if you like.

Tony,
I was searching for the cheapest holiday in all those countries, next Feb half-term, just out of curiosity, with Inghams, on the internet.

I'm still trying to work out the hot dog joke. I'm not very good at jokes.

Pablo,
I think you might have to wait a bit for all our kids to leave home. I have lost one already, but my next one doesn't leave for another 2 years. I don't know about everyone else.

And I don't think you'd like to share a small French apartment with my daughter and me. She leaves her clothes all over the place and is really messy, and apparently I snore. My husband just prods me when I do it at home, but it seems I do it on holiday as well. You would have to bring ear plugs.

Eljay,
I'll just have to hope then, that maybe my daughter won't totally reject me, and will be happy for us to go on a ski holiday together, like yours did, even when she's grown up.

Well,
I am not totally chucking in the towel on this. Maybe my daughter will get interested in boys on motorbikes, or something, and while she's chasing them I can carry on ski-ing (and get better than her .

But in a couple of years I will need to find someone to ski with, I think, because even if she does carry on ski-ing it will probably be with new friends from Uni, and I'm sure she won't want her slow old mother tagging along.

Do they do groups for us parents to join up with after our kids have flown the nest?
