Thanks for that...I don't drink any more.......or any less for that matter and anyway only plan to have a bevy or two on days with a "d" in them. La Grot is meant to be quite lively with dancing on the tables I have heard....wonder if they have ladders to get us oldies up there?

Just as I was about to start a new tread on serre che I saw this...Me and 10 other oldies 45-63 are going on 20th Feb. All are "intermediates" ...whatever that is... so it would be great if you could tell us the good bits to do both in terms of skiing and eating. We are 4 girlies and 7 blokes total age well in excess of 500 years. :D. look out Serre Che!!! (well until ten at night at least)
Hi Dan

I agree that Passo would meet all your criteria. It is snow sure and (reasonably)cheap. Check out the Neilson forum "Snow and Snowboarding" page 2, where a couple of us have put up some comments on Passo.

And ...in addition to TKMax don't forget Lidl and Aldi who also have good deals on.
Is 65 too old to try skiing?

NO....not to old, I only started 2 seasons ago and feel reasonably competent at the ripe old age of 59. The good thing about being a little older is that you know your limits and don't do things with quite the mad approach we all had at 21. Just remind them that skis don't have brakes (the reason my wife doesn't like skiing)and just take things at their own pace. :P
Passo Tonale

Hi , Went to Passo last Easter and found it to be pretty good. Passo itself is OK but as has been said is south facing. Nearly all the runs are red or blue so its great for cruising. On the north side, the glacier is very good and there is a very difficult red at the top....and an easy blue down to the gondala. Try the Paridisio (big black)if you are feeling confident in the afternoons after the sun has got on it a bit to make it a little softer.. Passo is now joined to Ponti di Lengo by gondala and you can ski down the blue "husky" run to the middle station if you are a learner. There is also a black down to Ponti from the middle gondala which leads you to a lift to get to the tree lined runs in Ponti. Most are reds with a few blacks that are not that difficult. Being north facing and in the trees the snow is usually very good. You can also get to the Ponti gondala by turning off down an easy red just below the husky hutches (hence the "husky" run) . Enjoy!
