Not packed your skis away yet?
La Grave is keeping the lifts open until the 11th May 2008. Quick note for anyone unfamiliar with La Grave :- the ski area is suitable only for confident and aware off-piste skiers (on account of there being no pistes descending the mountain). A guide is essential, as is avalanche safety equipment (bleeper, shovel and probe as a minimum). |

Lionel Richie??? Close, very close... consider this your final warning... For me, the only tracks I want to hear on the mountain are the ones my skis are making... 8) But the songs in my imaginary iPod would have to include:- Wagner - Ride of the Valkyries AC/DC - Shoot to Thrill Motorhead - Another Perfect Day Foos - Hey Johnny Park Less Than Jake – Help Save The Youth Of America From Exploding ZZ Top - La Grange Metallica - Wolf Aimee Allen - Revolution (vid on youtube) And when (hopefully) I put my youngest on snow next year it'll probably have to be the theme from In The Night Garden...  |

Welcome goose-person... there's no wrong time of year for skiing; there is always snow somewhere - in fact, there's still rather a lot of it in The Alps! Mr souldrive, of this forum, is also a muso so he'll probably say hi shortly (if he's not out rocking in the Spring somewhere). Enjoy... |

This is (probably) the penultimate snow report of the European ski season...
And still it snows... more powder days this week, above 2,000 metres, have added to the already considerable snowpacks to ensure excellent conditions to the very end of the season. In the Northern Alps, in particular, exceptional snow remains - with Chamonix now reporting depths of 6 metres and the Grand Massif claiming 4 metres, it's really not over yet. The Week Ahead There will be more snow at altitude in much of the Alpine region. Although rising temperatures toward the end of next week will bring Spring skiing to all but the highest slopes, snow depths are sufficient - in those ski resorts still open - to ensure that good skiing will be had for the next couple of weeks. What are we going to do now? Keep Fit, Get Trained! If you're in the UK, consider taking one of the Warren Smith Ski Academy's half-day training sessions at Snow Domes in Milton Keynes, Leeds, Manchester and Glasgow. For dates and availability click here. If you can't make it to a Snow Dome, then we have the full range of Warren Smith Instruction DVDs and Handbooks available now... so you can visualize your way to better technique even when lounging by the pool... 8) |

Oh I think "Love in an Elevator" has to be appropriate for certain times in a ski-lift...

Stick a bulldozer blade on the front and I reckon an Impreza would be a serious pistey-basher... although it will still take a good driver to do a 360 on the spot like a proper basher can. Anyone driven a piste-basher? |

Ugh, fell at the first... |
