Great skiing fab music :D AFAIK Pabs is planning to be up there this coming w/e.
My Bootfitter (CEM on here) taught me to do up my boots effectively. Buckle 3, then 4 (top) then power strap. Flex forward to push heel into heel pocket. Buckle 2 then 1. He's quite keen on folks doing up their boots properly, especially at the top of the cuff. I think he's been bootfitting skiers for at least 25 years, so it's a tried and trusted method.

As for not undoing boots in restaurants etc, I suppose it depends on how much support you feel you need when sitting down and allowing your feet to swell a bit in the warmth :D

Am not expert by the way, and I never read that article referenced by some dude earlier
And again, I am not an expert.

If you want to refer to a post by another forum member, it's useful to use their Forum name. It's on their post.
The nice people at MountainSun are running their very well priced early season Ski & Board Camp again. Prices start at £99. I'm not connected with them in any way.

Looks like you had a lot of fun.

Indeed. Bandit, you asked if there was a collective name for a group of woopy jumpers. How about skidron?

Any pics of them actually jumping?

Skidron is good :D No, I don't have any jumping pix, they sort of skim just above the surface AFAICT. Looks quite gentle. Short video showing Woopy Jumping taken in Grimentz here....

Thanks Wickers :D It's a shame you're not a Swiss skiing fan, I think you'd enjoy Grimentz.

You're quite right, I have been off-piste with an instructor, but only really down the side of a piste, or between 2 pistes. I should have said I am too cautious to go off-piste without an instructor.

This year a French Ski Instructor was given a 12 month suspended sentence by a French Court. He caused an avalanche which killed 1 person in his group.

I thought the itinerary routes were avalanche controlled? I'm pretty sure they are in Tignes - the ones that are basically ungroomed (but patrolled) black pistes.

Some are secured and patrolled, some are not. It really depends on the resort/country. It's quite useful to be able to make a route choice, based on the conditions on the day.
There have been a number of recorded incidents of avalanches crossing open pistes in Europe over the last couple of years. It would appear that I'm not the only one with stuff to learn.

Thanks :D Learning about snow science, and how the snowpack develops is part of developing skills as a skier.

I am too cautious to go off piste in any case.

I thought you had aleady been off piste with an Instructor? Avoiding all off piste will be a bit restricting. What would you do if you needed to ski a route marked as an Itinerary?
