According to this website, and several other sources, the ski-ing/boarding in the Sauze d'Oulx area is suitable for all levels :)
J2Ski says: Sauze d'Oulx in brief Sauze d'Oulx Ski Resort is: Very good for Expert Skiers. Excellent for Intermediate Skiers. Very good for Beginners. Good for Snowboarding. There's a very good short article on it here: http://www.onthesnow.co.uk/news/a/105434/skiing-the-milky-way--a-resort-for-everyone This article says Basically Sauze is only one of 6 resorts that make up the Milky Way, which are all lift linked and cover an area of 400 Km piste. The villages are: Claviere at 1,750 - quiet and good for beginners and intermediates. Montgenevre at 1,850 - in France, good for snowboarders, beginners and intermediates. Sansicario at 1,700m - between Sauze and Sestriere, very varied ski-ing from sunny beginner slopes to Olympic black runs and hence suitable for everyone. Sauze d'Oulx at 1,500m - boisterous night life, best suited to intermediates with wide open pistes and long cruising tree-lined runs. Sestriere at 2,035m - good for experts who enjoy north-facing terrain and steep snowsure slopes - has the most challenging runs and best snow record in the Milky Way. Cesana at 1,350m - pretty, ancient village, 8 minutes by gondola from Sansicario, good for families, nice and quiet. For anyone wanting to ski/board with us, and not wanting to stay in the Sauze hotel or travel with Crystal, the Stella Alpina hotel is only 30 metres from the Sauze, right by the Clotes piste, and is available with Neilson at £556 per person for a shared twin/double for 11th January including flights. This hotel gets excellent reviews. |

Hi Snapzzz, The reason we can't ask anyone else to join our direct booking and share in our group discount with the hotel is because the Sauze haven't got any rooms left to 'sell'! I was very taken aback by this myself. It's got 31 rooms and it's 9 months before the holiday. So I was assuming that we'd be able to add more people from J2Ski to our booking, as we have done in previous years. However, as soon as we'd decided we wanted to stay in the Sauze, and I'd sent an e-mail to the hotel letting them know this, they replied saying we had to book immediately as they had lots of other people wanting 'our' rooms. I asked if we could have more rooms and they said 'no' they were pretty much sold out. I checked with Crystal, and as I said, they still had 8 rooms available in the Sauze. So we decided to book 12 rooms for the people who were ready with their deposits and committed to the holiday. We booked the hotel last night. Anyone that wants to come with us is very welcome, as I said before :) I will have a look to see if the Sauze is available from any other TO etc. And as for the quality of the hotel - we know it's not a 4 star hotel but as Old Andy said, the reviews are very good and it's well situated. And it's not too expensive. As I said before, if anyone wants to ski/board with us, but wants to stay in a different hotel for whatever reason, there are plenty of other hotels in Sauze d'Oulx :) The last 2 J2Ski group holidays have been great, and we all got on really well :) I am quite confident that the next one will be just as good :) If anyone would like to join us, would they please post up on here, or message me, and I will help them to find room buddies (if they haven't got one already) and other queries like I usually do. |
