3 valleys - which resort to choose?
Started by User in France, 35 Replies
I was more thinking that there would be no suitable holidays rather than a lack of snow!

3V on our list but also Zermatt, Wengen, Lech, Ischgl and probably a few others.

We could always go back to Val d'Isere! It's a great resort.

Ally, hope your holiday is going well. Bit disappointed that you've not stopped skiing early one day to keep this topic up to date. -)

We're not yet decided on location but, like Tony, the date is more or less fixed. Either 15th or 16th March to somewhere with loads of snow.

Decided against Le Hameau because of the cost.

We're probably going to go for a last minute deal to somewhere snowy and see how that goes. Could be a disaster as never tried it before. Wish me luck...

Nearly there with our 2nd holiday choice. Highly likely to be heading out on 15th March.

Has anyone stayed at Le Hameau du Kashmir in Val Thorens? It's a fairly new building and the photos on the web look pretty good. We will go for the breakfast only option and can then fend for ourselves for lunch and dinner. The junior suites look very nice indeed.

Any comments (good or bad) would be appreciated......

Thanks!!

We've used Ski Set Deep Snow in Val Claret. Excellent service and very friendly. Not sure if they have lockers though.
I hope the IOC don't get into treble over this.....

Opinions on a down jacket.

Not a down jacket (although they do make them) but I've been very very pleased with a Norrona mid layer that I bought 18 months ago. It's the previous version of this:

https://www.norrona.com/en-GB/Products/3340-14/6800/falketind-primaloft60-jacket-m/

It's extremely light and barely noticeable when worn under a shell. I much prefer this set up to a bulkier insulated jacket.

I have a merino wool base layer and most of the time that is good enough. However, on the last holiday in Espace Killy it was very windy and quite cold and for those days I also wore a thin fleece under the mid layer making it a 4 layer set up.
