PSC,
I've seen plenty of people taking their skis and snowboards on the Eurostar and the TGV - there doesn't seem to be a problem with it at all :D And, they put those 'compost' machines in different places - sometimes they're in the middle of the station concourse, sometimes by the door onto the platform, and sometimes actually on the platform. As I said before, I think they're yellow and they look a bit like parking meters. Ally |

Hi Littleski,
I'm really, really, really glad to hear you got back okay :D :D :D I was horribly afraid one of those train schedules I'd planned out for you had gone wrong, and you were stuck going round in circles somewhere between Germany and Switzerland  Fancy that travel agent booking you into the red light district in Paris - what were you wearing when you went to make your reservations :?:  I'd love to hear more, when you've got the time :D Ally |

Hi Everyone,
I'm back (with new ski boots) :D :D :D I will write a full report tomorrow, but I'm too tired tonight - just got off the London train an hour ago. It took me 3 hours to get the boots - it seems there IS something wrong with my legs and feet - and I got mens boots - I think the technician was a bit confused by the knobbly knees and hairy legs  And I have been ski-ing for 2 hours this morning at Milton Keynes in the Ladies class (no inspection of knobbliness or hairiness so I got in okay). It was very difficult - like trying to ski with a couple of plums under my feet and my leg turned the wrong way  But at least I didn't fall over - just had to snow-plough down the first run and wondered for a bit if I could ski at all like that. Tony, I'm sure I wrote somewhere at the beginning of this thread that Profeet do a life-time guarantee on the comfort fit of the boots, so I can take them back any time to get them re-fitted :D Ally |

Brooksy, I'm not exactly ignoring your question, but I'm trying very hard not to wibble any more. I was hoping that Snowbandit would come back and re-claim her thread :D She might have more of a language problem than I did  Ally |

Thanks Salski :D |

Nellie,
I just had a look at the Snow and Rock website, and they say that their comfort guarantee on ski boots only lasts for the season in which you buy the boots - which means that if you buy boots from them now the comfort guarantee only lasts until 15th April (i.e. only for 2 weeks). This doesn't seem very fair to me, but that's what it says, as far as I can see. So, perhaps if your OH buys his new boots from them tomorrow he should wear them 24 hours every day for the next 2 weeks  But at least he saves the £150 fitting charge that I will have to pay :D Ally |

Thanks Billip, that's very kind of you :D
Tony, I have to admit I would like to go there just to see what all the fuss is about. It looks really lovely in the photos, and Dave Mac says it's really close to lots of other ski resorts, so I would think it would be perfectly possible to get a taxi to them, assuming there's no bus, if I managed to ski all of Niederau and Auffach and wanted somewhere else to go. Maybe I will go there, one day ... :D Ally |

Pablo, Thanks, but I have a very packed schedule for my London trip (no long wibbly explanations - I am trying, really!), and I won't have time to go there - can't I just look on the internet and print out the page? Ally |
