Airport Transfer - Geneva to Val Cenis??
Started by User in France, 12 Replies
Snowbandit,
Going by Snow Coach is one option I'm sure I could never stick. I'm not surprised you don't fancy doing that again. But I'd much rather go by train than fly, if at all possible. Apart from anything else it's the long transfers from the airport up those windy mountain roads that make me sick. But I can survive half an hour or so in an Altibus bus from the station okay :D

Not to break anything this time, or indeed injure myself in any way at all :D

Don't forget you can also take the train, if you are within a reasonable distance of St Pancras.

http://www.valcenis.com/acces-uk.htm

e.g. St Pancras, London, to Modane (for Val Cenis) 270 euros return, change in Paris, leave at 10-25 a.m. arrive 19-25 Modane (24 Km from Val Cenis). And then take the bus.

Using that Snowtrex website I got a total price of £245 per person for 4 people staying in an apartment for 4 on 8th Jan for 7 days, not including flights but including ski passes and V.I.P. ski and boot hire.

Edit

I forgot to say that the Altibus bus is 15 euros return from Modane to Val Cenis.

Morecambe to Euston on Saturday and return Sunday = £146:40 for the 2 of us. Accomadation for Sat night and beer money =

The price of it all would prob pay for 1 of us to go skiing

Did you have a look to see if there were any advance train tickets on sale yet? I go on the train quite a lot and if you can get them the advance tickets are a real bargain - like £15 instead of £50. But you do have to keep a watch on the internet to see when they become available and get them straight away before someone else does.

How about the extra cost of staying overnight in a hotel en route somewhere? I should think it would be pretty difficult to drive all in one go from Scotland to a ski resort.

Sorry Nelly,
I can't go. I'll be doing a changeover on Saturday and going to Tignes on Sunday, because it's the start of half-term.

I hope everyone has a good time :D

Hi Dave,
Thanks - I see what you mean now.

Well, this is their own website, complete with phone number, so I suppose you could give them a ring, or e-mail them:
