Wanttoskiplease, your best source for information and job opportunities right now is Natives website.

http://www.natives.co.uk/

The ski tour op industry uses them to find workers, and Natives also runs Job's Fairs which start soon for the coming winter. Good Luck 8)

Based on my (skier) experiences with Snowcard (very expensive policy) I can't agree with either of your points. Towards me they behaved more like with a budget insurer, withdrawing part of my cover based on my getting an appointment for a private scan. I know others have had better experiences with them. They were also IMO slow in reinstating my cover when I received an all clear.

The Insurance Industry is adversarial AFAICT. Lots of time and effort were put in by Snowcrazy and friends, into finding out what off piste cover words really meant in insurers Policy docs a couple of years back. This is much the same. Weasel words rule.
Insurers are not in biz for our benefit, they exist to make profits, so will make it as hard as possible to claim. Occasionally one of the pesky claimants will get them hauled over the coals for being naughty, but I'll bet they are still quids in.

The new regulations won't prevent adventurous people exploring. They are probably not going to spend around 550-600fr on a Guide for the day to show them around the area, unless they have a specific goal in mind.
Driving out SCGB Reps and Tour Op leaders with regulation and insurance requirements may lead to more accidents.

I suppose the SCGB could send out their leaders on a visiting basis with the members, and they would not be affected by this.

The insurance requirement will certainly help Air-Glaciers recover the costs of rescue.

I am visiting val d'Anniviers through you:) And you are taking nice pictures too.

As for moutaineering - it's seems to be such a pot shot. My friends wanted to do Mont-Blanc and decided it wasn't worth it for weather reasons - they actually booked a hut for two separate weekends and both times weather cancelled it. I've missed for work reasons and now I am glad I wasn't in it - it must be so frustrating. I am now debating with myself if I should book a week-long course in Chamonix just by myself and just go along with whatever happens. Maybe weather will stabilise now and we'll have a good spell:)

Thanks again  Glad you like my snaps :D I hope you enjoy the Anniviers. Which village will you choose as your base?

Hope this is a single freak year for bad summer weather, and patterns will settle down and become predictable (fingers crossed)
What Course are you planning to take?

As I'm doing a Fred Drift here...Go Pro's, I'm sure they are very nice, but I don't plan to buy one :D

I have another reader ...woo-hoo 8) :D  Thanks!

The weather was positively wintry, just our luck! We plan to try again next year, maybe a little later into the summer.

Msej449, I have taken an insurer to the Ombudsman. After a little exchange of emails with the staff assigned, my case was deemed reasonable. I was awarded a payment by the Ombudsman, and the insurer duly paid up. It took a few weeks. After you've battled this long, and jumped through all the correct hoops, it's going to be important to present your case clearly. Hang in there -)

You thinking, would this mount on the headband, or be daring and go for a full-on Bobble Mounted job?
