Or you could use it as a hanging basket in the summer  |

We were ski-ing in Courchevel last week, during half-term, and we never waited more than about 2 minutes for a lift. Yes, there were lots of people there, but the lift system is so efficient, and there are so many pistes spreading out in all directions that there was plenty of space on the piste as well.
A half hour queue sounds pretty bad to me - was there no way around it? Ally |

That sounds really dangerous
Why didn't the lift operator stop the lift? Ally |

Thanks for the photos Johnski96,
They are really lovely :D Ally |

There was plenty of snow in Courchevel, down to Le Praz and La Tania, and it was snowing heavily in 1550 when we left on Saturday night. There were still a couple of small bare patches here and there and Jockeys (black) was still shut (apparently because it was too icy and steep for the piste bashers) plus a few others I believe - but there were plenty of open pistes left :D Ally |

Well,
All the dancing and shooting etc. worked a real treat and we had plenty of snow in Courchevel - almost too much at times - great lumps of it everywhere and I tipped over on my face off piste in a pile of powder - had an awful job to get it all off my glasses so I could see where I was going again  Thanks everyone, for all the dancing :D I hope everyone has/had a great time with plenty of snow, wherever they've been/are going :D Ally |

Emma,
I would say icy patches are very common. I think I've found at least one on every ski holiday I've been on. The worst ones I've found have been on those narrow blue (road in the summer) overcrowded pistes on the bends. I've fallen over several times on those, and you can't see them coming. When we were ski-ing on the glacier at Tignes over a year ago there was serious ice - even the international teams were falling over on it  It was real green/blue glacial ice. Anyway, I've got to finish getting ready to go off and do more practical ice investigations (in Courchevel), so I'm sorry Emma but you'll have to handle Tony without my help  Ally |

Thanks mjw69 :D That's very kind of you to reassure me about the snow cover in the Three Valleys. I hope it snows a bit more before we get there, but I think I can put up with a bit of unseasonal slush. Tony, Sorry to hear you missed my attempt at banter because you were stuck at Gatwick, but glad you appreciated my efforts :D Ally |
