Head supershape i-magnum advice

That chart was dreamt up by a retailer, Head and most other manufactures don't publish sizing charts. There isn't any magic formula for choosing the right length for skis, the optimal length depends on multiple factors.

The general rule for piste and all-mountain skis is to pick a length somewhere between your chin and the top of your head. The ski lengths given by the manufactures refer to the length of the running surface and not to the height of the tip with the tail stood the ground.
The chairman of the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc gave Chamonix town council an update on the situation at a recent council meeting.

The Plan Joran gondola haul rope was damaged by falling cable car ropes and will have to be replaced before it can open.

All the equipment required for the implementation of the Avalanche Control Plan was destroyed in the fire, this will have to be replaced before the area can open.

Due to a dispute between "experts" (presumably insurance assessors) and the insurance companies CMB has not been allowed to start clearing the site. They plan to demolish the burnt-out buildings, but keep the machine rooms and the electricity sub-station that feeds the other lifts. In order for this to work they need gain access so that they can make them weather tight.

Elsewhere, the Aiguille du Midi cable car haul rope will have to be replaced yet again (third time in 9 months. They hope to reopen it by the end of the year. The rest of the lifts at Balme, Flégère and Brévent should open as planned.

The price of the Chamonix Le Pass ski pass will increase by 1.95%, but the price of Mount Blanc Unlimited pass remains the same and now includes a day at the new wellness centre.
According to a recent post on Facebook CML say that the current issue is not related to issues previously identified in the track support beams.

As it has resulted in immediate closure the issue must be pretty serious.

The advocates of the reinstatment of the of the Coire na Ciste chairlifts don't seem to be aware that according to EU Cableways Regulation 2016/424 before a ski lift that has been taken out of operation can be put back into operation it must be upgraded to meet the current safety standards. Due to the age and condition of the Coire na Ciste chairlifts this would probably have been prohibitively expensive.

The deal gives Verbier access to Liverpool's fan database, there are estimated to be around 870 million Liverpool fans around the world including 9 million in the UK.

They will also be able to use the VIP lounges to promote the resort, it will also be promoted on social media and in the club magazine.
Apparently they were lowering the rescue cabin into place with a chain hoist when the chain snapped.

The rescue cabin then ran out of the top station (it doesn't have any brakes) and crashed into the cabin that had been stopped a few hundred meters below the top station for a training exercise.

The recovery of the cabins seems to be a major problem, they are only held in place by the emergency brake on the cabin carrier truck. As they are much too heavy to be lifted by helicopter a way will have to be found to pull them back up to the top station without damaging the ropes.

If the ropes weren't damaged in the accident then it shouldn't be too much of a problem to put it back into service as they have a spare carrier truck, they just need to attach an arm and some weights to make a counterweight for the undamaged cabin.

Both the cabins involved in the accident are write-offs, assuming that Garaventa / CWA have sufficient capacity it will take about 6 months to build new ones.

The Compagnie du Mont-Blanc has issued a press release about the fire https://us5.campaign-archive.com/?u=560b442b9e9207bf5d0b797ec&id=f635eaa3ae and a revised piste map https://www.compagniedumontblanc.fr/Marketing/plans/hiver18-19/Plan_Hiver_AGM_18-19.pdf?_ga=2.155371384.2103447816.1536679244-1272669653.1514047997 The loss of revenue for the coming season caused by the closure of the Grands Montets cable car is estimated at 10 million Euros.

The Herse chairlift and the Plan Joran télécabine are also reported to have been damaged by falling ropes.

Latest reports suggest that the machine rooms for both cable cars, which are both located below and behind the cabin docks at the Logon station are more or less undamaged, so it is conceivably possible that the instalations could be repaired in time for the 2019/20 season.

However, as they are very old (they were built in 1962-63) and by modern standards have very limited capacity (730/700 passengers/hour). I personally don't think it's worth the trouble and expense, IMO a far better solution would be to knock the whole lot down and build something new.
Accommodation question

The hoteliers in the alps are getting increasingly fed up with the restrictive contracts and high commissions (15-35%) imposed on them by the major online booking platforms.

In Austria, France and Italy price parity clauses are now illegal and the parliaments in Germany and Switzerland have voted to make them illegal, but the laws are not yet in force. Hotels in Austria, France and Italy may now offer prices on their websites that are lower than those on the booking platforms.

I find that the best deals are to be had by ringing hotels directly and if possible speaking to the proprietor.
