Hi skisnail,

I'm not sure I understand the question, but I'll try and answer anyway.

skisnail wrote:you say that conditions in French Alps are superb, but the forecast for Mont Jura shows very little snow. How come?

Yes, both of those statements are correct.

skisnail wrote:How come?

a) current conditions are what's being reported at the moment, and the forecast is the best guess of the weather models as to what's going to happen.

b) Monts Jura are in the, er, Jura mountains and not The Alps. They're lower in altitude and in a different place, so will have different weather. 8)

If you're asking what we mean as "snow to" in the forecats, then it is the approximate altitude to which fresh snow will fall.

Hope that makes sense.
In this morning's pre-sledging update...

Key indicates unread posts should be green, but they aren't.
Only 'hot topics' are colour coded in orange.

We've refined (and hopefully fixed!) the highlighting so the new posts (and new replies) should always show up now (see the Recent Topics list and the Forum Index). The hot/sticky/announcement highlighting has been toned down as it was confusing / distracting.

The "last page/reply" buttons still have a bug that is evading capture at the moment...

Dave Mac - not sure how you've got fonts quite so small but we'll have another fix for the narrower screens within 24 hours.
Ok, nothing we can't fix here I think.

We've just refreshed the text sizing and the header layout so the "recent posts" and the "forum index" are now similar in size to the old format.

Snapzz - we've dropped the header completely, and thinned down the post form for the smallest screens so your iPhone should look a lot better now.

That's excellent feedback, and I agree. For wider screens we'll drop the user info and some of the buttons into a vertical format like the old layout. Separation between the posts will be reduced so should be easier to scan.

It's surprised us how many people use the iPad (and other tablets) in portrait format when browsing and we will revisit that layout shortly.

Carry on... 8)

Well we expected it to be a bit "marmite" and it's fair to say we've had a range of opinions so far.

It'd be useful to know what size screen you're using (inches as well as pixel resolution) and which aspects you don't like.

PM me if you want to take the detail offline but it'd be useful to know.

We will be tuning a few things as we go.

Any chance you could be a little more specific Bob?

As a veteran user, your opinion is highly valued although we'll never please everyone all of the time.

I'm confused by your comment TBH - it sounds as if you are viewing the mobile site (j2ski.mobi) on a desktop? :?: Don't do that!

The whole raison d'être of the new look is that it adapts to the device; it does NOT look the same on a desktop as it does on a mobile.

To be clear (hopefully), you should now be able use the main forum (j2ski.com) on 99% of devices :-

- On a desktop or tablet there will be more detail, more functions and a 2-column layout like before.

- On a mobile / smartphone, there will be a 1-column layout with reduced (but still functional) detail.

My work here is done!

Icey - the post count is now un-broken, as is the online status.

They've been spamming most of the ski forums for the past week.

Would you trust a "business" operated from a free yahoo email account that doesn't even have it's website and is dropping spam everywhere?

No, neither would we - so I've removed their email and will lock this thread as a warning for anyone who gets one of these emails.
