You must be reading my mind :D I was just wondering if the holidaymakers would think the skis were for water ski-ing which would let me get away with a theme like that, seeing that the cottages are by the sea. Is there any difference between alpine skis and water skis? (I've never been water ski-ing). Ally |

Hi Iceman,
I'm glad you liked the wine rack made from recycled skis. It only cost $58 dollars but they won't post internationally. I found another site, which doesn't seem to mind having their pictures copied as they're trying to show you how to make the furniture yourself - they even have a video of it, on here: http://scraphacker.com/ski-furniture/ ![]() |

Hi Khjr,
There are several on-piste itineraries arouind the 3 Valleys suggested here: http://www.valthonet.com/ski/area/ski-itineraries.html I have been to the area 5 times now and the first 4 times all the pistes I went on, except the ones they were deliberately keeping as moguls, were pisted every night. But I went a few months ago, over New Year, and for the first few days there seemed to be lots of pistes that were left in their natural state - all lumps and bumps and piles of loose powder everywhere. The only reason I could think of for this was that the machines were out clearing the roads as the snow was incredibly heavy - 5 metres in 5 weeks I seem to remember at Val Thorens. The 3 Valleys is a fantastic place and I'm sure you'll have a great time :D Ally |

Snapzzz - I think you posted your previous message on the '2013 plans' thread (page 2). It is rather confusing because we seem to have 2 parallel threads running at the moment.

I really liked the photo Dids put up of the fence made out of old skis, so I thought I'd have a look to see if I could find any more uses for recycled skis.
This is an article about recycling old skis, with a couple of photos: http://www.recyclescene.com/how-to-recycle/sports-equipment/recycled-skis And this is a company in Vermont who make skis into coat-racks, chairs etc. They will make them out of your own old skis/snowboards if you want. I can't put the pictures up on their own (only the link to their website) because they have specifically asked people not to. I particularly liked the wind chimes made out of old ski poles and the bird houses with skis on the roof :D http://www.recycledskis.com/ski_furniture Ally |

Thanks very much OldAndy. I enjoyed reading that :D
It's a pity the snow wasn't better so you could have gone off-piste, but on the other hand it sounds as though the snow on most of the pistes was okay. And I'm glad your knee lasted through :D It was lucky you'd paid extra for the insurance on the skis. I wonder how your ski broke? Ally |

No Tony, I just wash up for them. Perhaps you weren't reading my report carefully enough? Would you like me to expand on it? Ally |
