I think the first thing to do would be to find out how many J2Skiers would like a group holiday together.
I had a go just now with Survey Monkey to design a simple survey to answer these sort of questions. I don't want you to actually do the survey but just to look at the questions and suggest things like other resorts and other questions we need to ask etc. I haven't thought much about the resorts - I just put down the first ones that came into my head because this is only a prototype survey. It seems that I can make a survey with 10 questions for nothing. I added the last question just to make it 10. I expect someone could think of a more useful question. I have no idea how I get hold of the answers yet - but presumably it tells you that somewhere on the survey Monkey website  http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/KR8Y7CZ |

Congratulations Bedrock Barney
It's nice to know that you and your dad got on so well when you were young :D I had 12 lessons and passed in 12 weeks myself, over 30 years ago. But I learned to drive on the tractor first, which was actually much easier because it had a hand throttle and went more slowly, and once I'd learned the basics in the field I was out on the road on my own (with L plates up of course!). Best of luck with teaching your own kids :D The most important thing is to remember to breathe  |

Thanks for your concern Tony :D So far, we seem to be getting on okay during our 'lessons'. Although sometimes it does go a bit like this .. " brake ...brake ... emergency brake! And I had the standard of my driving checked out during a lesson I booked in Cardiff a couple of years ago (out of curiosity to see how many bad habits I had picked up over the years plus to gain a bit of a lesson in city driving). The instructor seemed quite impressed with my driving (my driving is much better than my ski-ing!) and was pleasantly surprised to see that I still use my rear mirror. I had 2 faults - the position of my hands on the steering wheel and going too close to cars in front when queueing at lights (apparently one is supposed to be able to see the tyres on the tarmac of the car in front). So- let's hope for the best :D She has 40 lessons booked with the driving school - price around £800  Ally |

Snapzzz,
As you said, I reckon it's an issue with Crystal rather than P&V. I mean, Crystal should time their flights to match in with the time the accommodation opens. Otherwise, where do they expect you to go whilst you wait? Crystal needs to negotiate with P&V so that guests arriving on the early flights get the rooms that are cleaned first and make sure the reception is open to meet the coach. I suspect with P&V it's not an issue with their French guests as in my experience most of these seem to drive to the resort (and hence their luggage is in their own car), so they could easily go somewhere else for a bit whilst they wait for the accommodation to open if they arrive early - as indeed my guests generally do (they go to the beach or out for lunch or something). Anyway - I hope you and the family have a good time in Belle Plagne if that's where you decide to go :D |

I don't see why it should be difficult to organize a group J2Ski ski holiday.
If we used an agent that allowed everyone to book and pay separately under the group booking then we wouldn't have to worry about people dropping out or not paying or anything. And we could use a majority vote system to work out where we were going and how much we were going to pay etc. So all we'd have to do would be to design the questionnaire and post it up, sort out the answers, declare what the majority vote was, find out how many people wanted to go to wherever it was, find accommodation to suit the majority vote, make the open group booking, and let people get on and book. We could pick a selection of major resorts in, say, Italy, France, Austria and Switzerland to choose from. And offer a price range of, say, under £600, £600 - £800, £800 - £1000 for accomodation and transfers. Offer the choice of self-catering or chalet. And see how many people would agree to the first week in January after the schools go back as the cheapest week to go. This would mean of course that those who teach etc. wouldn't be able to go, which is a shame, but I would expect the majority to opt for the cheaper date. Ally |

Ian,
As far as I know Admin is male and the J2Ski news lady is female. But I don't know what all the fuss about capitals is about. I have a copy of Fowler's English somewhere - I will dig it out and have a look for you :D Ally |
