The hospital stated yesterday that he wouldn't have made it to the hospital had he not been wearing a lid, and it's being reported that the helmet was "split in two". :(
Press conference in five minutes. Fingers crossed for some good news. |

Michael Schumacher's condition is reported to have deteriorated and is now being described as 'critical' following an accident whilst skiing in Meribel yesterday.
Initial reports yesterday indicated that he struck his head on a rock in a fall. He was apparently wearing a helmet and was conscious when help arrived. Initially airlifted to Moutiers and then transferred to Grenoble hospital latest reports say he is a coma following brain surgery and his condition is now described as Critical. The BBC reports F1 Fans gathering at the hospital and is running 'Career in pictures' and 'F1's Greatest Divers' features at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/ |

Yes, this. I'm familiar with the slope at Serre Che, like you I guess, but have skied the run mentioned in La Clusaz (Torchere) many, many times over the years. If it was the particular pitch I think then it always looks tempting, but is prone to slide (has killed before) and is not one to be risked in current conditions. :( |

Thanks Andy, nearly forgot that! (Live online too if you're not near a TV).

Good grief. Sounds like he really needs to re-think his risk assessment... |
