You've got to be able to carry off the "I'm a fighter pilot" look. 8)

I'd like to try one for the same reasons as you, but I do wonder if they protect your eyes/face from the wind/cold as well as goggles? Anyone tried one?
The Jump - anyone watching?

Hmm. A pity they didn't find more time for Warren... and Graham Bell would have made a better presenter / compere / random with microphone ... but kudos to anyone willing to go off a ski jump.

Looks like they're throwing the ladies down on skeletons tomorrow.

Might give this a watch in the (ready-to-be-disappointed) hope there might be more ski content than "Slebs"...

According to Wozza...

We are super proud that our very own Warren Smith will be in charge of taking this bunch of well know celebrities from skiing zeros to skiing heroes, and it will all be on channel 4 starting at 8pm tonight!

Sporting legends such as Darren Gough and Sir Steve Redgrave as well as TV personalities like Amy Childs and Melinda Messenger will be battling it out in a number of winter sport disciplines ranging from speed skating to ski jumping!

Anyone else?
Early season skiing in Flaine?

Flaine's usually skiable well before Xmas but, just like anywhere in December, you can't totally guarantee it.

KimboLand wrote:Thinking of booking for Dec 2015

 I assume you mean Dec 2014... but why book early? The week before Xmas is always a quiet one and you'll have no problem finding late availability if you leave your booking to, er, December TBH. Wait and see what the snow's doing nearer the time is your best bet.

KimboLand wrote:I'm thinking with a full area lift pass (Grand Massive) I'll be ok? Any advice?

Flaine pretty much always has snow as good as anywhere else in the Grand Massif, although Samoens has some North-facing pitches that hold early (or thin) snow very well.

Ski Cross for me, but also enjoy the luge/skeleton stuff for the sheer insanity...
X Games kicks off in Aspen, Alcott back in action and another busy weekend for Alpine and Ski Cross

Regarded as one of the biggest events on the freeski and snowboard calendar, the X Games which takes place in Aspen, Colorado begins today with four British athletes taking part. James 'Woodsy' Woods, the sole ski representative, will ride in the Ski Slopestyle, with qualifiers tomorrow and the finals taking place on Sunday. In Snowboarding, Billy Morgan and Aimee Fuller compete in Snowboard Slopestyle which starts today with men's eliminations and then finals on Saturday for both men and women. In Snowboard Cross, Zoe Gillings takes to the slopes tomorrow.

In Alpine Skiing, Chemmy Alcott raced today in her first World Cup since injury taking on the Super G in Cortina d'Ampezzo where she came 42nd. Chemmy will compete in another Super G on Sunday, following the Downhill on Friday and Saturday. Dougie Crawford and TJ Baldwin have been in Val d'isere this week competing in the Europa Cup Super G races. Crawford had the best result on Tuesday, coming 29th in the Super G. Both athletes are due to race in the Downhill tomorrow. Dave Ryding competes in the Kitzbühel World Cup Slalom tomorrow and then goes on to race in Schladming at the World Cup night Slalom on Tuesday.

The Cross Country skiers will spend this weekend training in Misurina, Italy preparing for the World Juniors in Val di Fiemme and Andrew Musgrave's World Cup in Toblach, both next weekend.

In Ski Cross, Emily Sarsfield, Pam Thorburn and Ed Drake race in the World Cup in Kresichberg, Austria. All continue to try and make their mark on the rest of the World Cup Circuit this season.

Ski Cross was one of the highlights of the Vancouver Winter Olympics and is one of the most exciting forms of ski competition. If you think Britain should be represented, please consider this petition :-

In the 2010 season Emily created British Skiing history by becoming the first British Female Skier ever to win a Skiing Europa Cup race, and with a string of positive performances in World Cup events over the next few years, she finished 17th at the Ski Cross World Championships in November 2013. She recently satisfied the conditions set out by the International Ski Federation (FIS) to be invited to compete in Ski Cross for the British Olympic team at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.

Unfortunately, the FIS invitation came a day after the British team was announced, and the British Olympic Association (BOA) have subsequently declined it. Although they have not given their reasoning, the decision has been endorsed by British Ski & Snowboard (BSS) who said they believe Emily is unlikely to put in a "credible performance" at the games. This, despite her 17th placed finish in the Ski Cross World Championships as recently as November.
There is now a petition running at change.org :-
