BROOMFIELD, Colo. - Vail Resorts continues to offer its Epic Pass, which provides purchasers with unlimited skiing over the 2010-11 season at five Colorado ski resorts (Arapahoe Basin, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Vail) and one at Lake Tahoe (Heavenly).
Cost is $599 for more than 18,000 acres of snow, and there are no blackout dates. At three cents an acre, that's a good deal for skiers and boarders planning several winter trips to Colorado or Tahoe. New this year is an Epic 7-Pack pass, which allows seven unrestricted days at any of the six listed areas. At $449 for adults, that's less than $65 a day. A Summit Pass good for unlimited and unrestricted skiing and riding throughout the season at Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge and Keystone is available for $409. A pass for Keystone and Arapahoe Basin only is $359. All cards are available at 1-877-204-7881 or www .snow.com/epicpass/home through mid-November, but the above prices are guaranteed only through Labor Day. |

Should europe bring in the same law
Parents could be fined up to $25 if they fail to outfit their children with helmets on California's ski slopes under a bill passed by the Assembly. The bill by Democratic state Sen. Leland Yee of San Francisco would require helmets for skiers and snowboarders under 18. The Assembly adopted SB880 Thursday on a 42-20 vote, then returned it to the Senate for a vote on Assembly amendments. Supporters say helmets will save lives and prevent head injuries. Critics say the bill infringes on parental responsibility and would be hard to enforce. A companion bill by Democratic state Assemblyman Dave Jones of Sacramento would require children and ski-resort employees to wear helmets. It also would mandate that resorts prepare annual safety plans. |
