We had a long weekend there a few seasons back.
Quite like it as a village/town, and there's a friendly vibe to the place. Great for families, or for chilling in the sun looking at the views (which are fantastic) but I think you might find the skiing a bit limited TBH Tony. Unless you do the "long drag" there's no real sense of travelling from one place to another (compared to somewhere like Serre Chevalier). There is some fun "between the pistes" stuff when conditions are good, but much of the skiing is South-facing and exposed (to sun and wind). That said, it does have a good snow record and - being so high - will get whatever's going. Per Daved's note, you'd probably prefer the La Thuile side for the skiing. ...oh, and if any of your party get queasy on mountain hairpins... this is NOT the resort you're looking for.  |

Duplicated post tidied up - carry on... 8)

Generally mild and sunny for the next few days, then cooler and unsettled (snow!) for the last week of February and into March. Currently looks like most snow to the North and West (France and Switzerland likely to do best) but the exact forecast will doubtless change... You feeling lucky, Punk? 8) |

Can't disagree with any of that.
The British Olympic Association give every impression of suffering the same affliction, having turned down no fewer than 5 Sochi places offered to our skiers! There is much discussion of this elsewhere, with the inescapable conclusion that our athletes are likely to be better off a) moving to other countries and b) choosing to represent anyone-but-Britain as their best chance of selection. I'll leave this link with no further comment... http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/other-sports/senior-official-forced-to-issue-apology-over-ski-fixing-email.23444316

Sorry, missed this over the weekend...
Fieberbrunn's reported snow depth went from 100cm to 105cm, so they must have got something... It's important to take into account that fresh snow (which is what we estimate) will compact, and the compaction can be very rapid in mild conditions as at present - so 25cm of fresh overnight powder can easily reduce to 5cm of added depth by lunchtime, and if the underlying snowpack is also compacting due to local temperatures then the net effect may even go negative.
They (see http://www.bergbahnen-fieberbrunn.com/ ) report 15cm in the past 24 hours :-
If anything, we under-estimated much of this weekends falls - but; it will compact. Hope that makes sense, but every one of our forecast pages has this to say...
With current forecast science (and the way fresh snow behaves), that's just the way it is. 8) |

We (J2Ski) also work closely with Iglu; you can call them on 020 8544 6354 and they'll help you out. 8)
