Well, it must have improved a great deal since then! :)

It was a real shock to the system last night having to cook my own supper, with no fancy chef prepared 4 course meal waiting for me :(

There were several places who never replied to us both when we were trying to book for 2014 and 2015. In desperation I started e-mailing them in Italian as well (using Google Translate) and even went so far as to describe our group as sensible and mostly middle-aged (!). I wondered if they were afraid we'd be a wild stag party or something! ;)
Piste Paul's photo of Davidsa2 (dressed all in black) in the centre of Val Thorens on Thursday when we stopped for lunch.

Thanks Elovabloke. I think we tried to book with them. I'm fairly sure Felthorpe e-mailed them several times and they never replied :(

Maybe they don't take direct bookings?
Piste Paul's photo

This photo is taken at the bottom of the Clotes piste and you can see how close the Sauze hotel is to the piste. It's the one with the balconies down a side road where the 2 cars are parked.

Piste Paul's photo.
I think I stopped for a drink and something to eat in this yellow coloured restaurant in Sportinia in Sauze more than any of the other restaurants.
The food tasted good, the staff were always nice to me, it was self-service so you didn't have to wait, it was cheap, and whenever I went in there I always found a spare table.
I usually had a vegetarian focaccia, with aubergine etc. which they made for me and toasted, and a hot chocolate (which is sort of like chocolate mousse in a cup) and together they only cost 7.50 euros and that was quite enough for lunch. I carried a bottle of tap water in my rucksack so with that as well I was fine :)

Piste Paul's photo of Bald-Eagleman ski-ing down into Sauze on Monday or Tuesday. You can see what a fantastic job they did keeping some pistes open for us when you look at the bare ground beside the piste!

You can also see the La Torre hotel tower. The Sauze hotel had a special deal whereby we could go swimming etc. in the La Torre spa half price during the day. And in fact several of our group went in there during the evening and got an excellent discount! :)

We had one non skier with us, and she found plenty to do during the day in Sauze, and went to the spa in the evening with one of the others when they'd finished ski-ing. I think it's about a 5 minute walk from our hotel.
Piste Paul's photo of Old Boarder's son. I loved his mohican green helmet and it meant you could spot him from miles away, or from the chairlift :)
He improved loads during the week, learning from the other boarders in the group :)
