Well I am very sorry it took us all so long to reply to you  |

I don't know about Val Thorens, but the wi-fi in our apartment block in Meribel wasn't very good during peak times. It was fine at, say 1 a.m. but useless in the evenings. We ended up paying to use a British dongle we'd brought with us, as this was a more reliable source of the internet, and it was very annoying because we'd paid the apartment owners to use their wi-fi for the week.

I'm glad he's OK - it can be very worrying when one finally lets one's kids out of the playpen  |

It sounds like a great idea but I'm afraid it wouldn't be any good to me at the moment because I still have a mobile like a small brick - no internet at all. Mind you, I only have to charge it about once a week whereas these new androids seem to need charging at least once a day.

Thanks Mattski_score,
I didn't know you were getting married and going on honeymoon! That's really exciting. It might be a good idea if you told John at Bonjour that you read about the chalet on J2Ski - I reckon it would help you, and the group of us that's going in January. I know of another J2Ski couple who booked with Bonjour after they saw our holiday thread, but who aren't coming with us. I look forward to reading your review when you get back, especially if you have any useful tips for us :D |

Did that have anything to do with our J2Ski 2013 holiday thread on the Bonjour Bonjour chalet, or was it just a coincidence? I'm sure you'll have a great time! |

Thanks Andy :D
I think I got our computer/house connected to the internet supposedly at 56 kbps sometime around '96, so that would fit in with what you said. |
|
I thought dial up used to be 56kbps? Or was it even slower when it first started? I'm getting very confused with all these kiloBytes and megaBytes. Is 0.49 Mbps the same as 490 Kbps? If it is then that means that my internet (slow as it is) is currently something like 10X faster than it used to be when it was dial up. |
