EASYJET has launched a new winter route from Liverpool John Lennon airport to Grenoble in south east France.

The twice-weekly link, starting on January 8, 2011, will boost the airline's ski offer from the airport.

Earlier this year it confirmed it would begin operating twice-weekly flights to the east central French destination of Lyon from Liverpool, starting on December 18.

The carrier, Liverpool JLA's biggest operator in passenger numbers, has also confirmed today that it will add an extra flight each week to its Belfast link from JLA, due to growing passenger demand.

Ali Gayward, easyJet UK commercial manager, said: "Our new winter routes from Liverpool offer access to popular ski destinations to provide passengers from the north west with even greater choice.

"The additional flights on the Liverpool to Belfast route will also help those people who have been affected by Ryanair's recent decision to pull out of Belfast airport."

She said the airline now offers 29 routes from JLA.

Robin Tudor, JLA spokesman, said: "As the region's travellers turn their attention towards winter leisure flights it's great to see easyJet growing its range of ski destinations from Liverpool.

"Grenoble is often referred to as the 'Capital of the Alps' and is a great destination for those setting off in search of winter sports and complements easyJet's comprehensive range of winter sun and ski flights from here."
