There is tons of skiing for intermediates :D Some winters have more snow than others, that is true of everywhere. Last December Chamonix struggled to open slopes because, so much snow fell so quickly.

Typically Chamonix pistes are open December to May. Ski tourers and Chamonix locals carry on into summer/autumn..... -)

Some fabulous Chamonix mountain photos on the Idris Skis Blog

There is enough Apres-ski in Chamonix to meet the demands of all budgets, from Michelin * to McD's.

It's an amazing place. What "mixed reviews" have you heard?

AFAIK for UK based Brokers, they are obliged to tell you, should you ask, if they are earning a commission from a recommendation which leads to a sale.

Alternatively do the leg work for yourself, can't expect a Broker to work for free.

You never know what a company is like until it goes wrong and then its too late if the cover not adequate.
You can use big companies and they can be worse than little ones.
Guess too lazy to go through lots of policies small print to get all the information and make the best decision.
Would love somebody just to say, buy that one!

You need to go to a Broker, tell them what you want/need, and listen to them tell you which Policy you should buy :D

It's been a while since I stayed in that area, but from recollection a Hotel in Le Fayet would be nowhere near the ski slopes. You will need a car. I think it's in the valley, and you really need to be up near Le Bettex.

It's worth taking good care of your hire skis, as the ski shop will charge you for a brand new pair, even if the ones you lost were not new.
Usually ski in early December, can't recall having too little snow, most often it's too much 8)

Check resort opening dates carefully before booking :D

The Alps are your Oyster (so to speak). You can have fun visiting all the little resorts that Tour Ops don't go to. You will likely need to book in somewhere between Xmas and New Year though (especially at New Year).
Our household used to do skiing as a roadtrip, we always stopped where we wanted and found a room and breakfast mostly without problem.
It's way easier to do that in smaller resorts -)

You might want to get stuck into a copy of Where To Ski & Snowboard for ideas 8)
