Thanks for the support Bandit. You call it correct, one of the most important parts of ski-ing is the ing!!!!! Its a fluid sport where dynamism is essential

There should be no part of the arc where the body is static. Gravitational forces are there to be used. ie rebound.
Oh, and revolutionski, you are absolutely correct, there is no right and wrong way to ski!!!
Some good advice on this thread, but lets not get too complicated! Stance should suit speed , terrain and radius, and be a simple natural athletic position.

If standing on the side of a steep hill, would your feet be together? No!!
Alternatively if the gradient is less steep, we bring our feet closer together, and narrow our stance.

Good advice is to imagine a sport you think you are competent at eg Tennis, and the position you would take receiving serve. A generalisation, but this may help some beginners become less stiff and upright.
Surfanic?!?!

Makes like trespass, surfanic and Dare2Be used to be uncool, but they have really upped their game recently. Compared to paying silly prices for names like Spyder, North Face, Helly Hansen, they are brilliant value and unless you intend spending the night on the mountain, will do the job!

I have wasted money over the years buying 'names', but my last purchase was a Dare2Be Club jacket and sallies. I've worn them for 2 seasons now(thats 12 weeks ski-ing by the way) and the zips and pockets are still ok!!

Increasingly the counterfeit market has also gone into overdrive for the 'names' so caveat emptor applies, especially online!!

Guess what I'm saying is, if you like it - Buy it!!!!
Both are central for ski-ing and apres. If budget is not too much of a problem I would go for the Sport. Rooms are fine and the food excellent, and you can fall out of bed into the Gondola Station!!
Dont know if its your bag, but one of the things I like about Soldeu is the live music. You will find acoustic sessions and bands in most of the bars both apres ski and later on(if the body is up to it).
I like the vibrancy of Austrian apres ski, but you cant beat live music!!!
My advice would be to go for it!! Soldeu is a fantastic resort for beginners. The slopes around the gondola area are gentle and the ski school has many English speaking instructors, who are very professional during the day and great craic in the evening.
There already seems to be a good base of snow at the moment and the temperature is much colder than last year so snow cover shouldnt be a problem this year.(Dont take my word for it, check out the conditions!!)
I have many friends in Soldeu and visit at least once a year. I love it.
Where were you thinking of staying?

I'm a lowlander from Linlithgow, and prefer to do my ski-ing abroad, but when conditions are good at Nevis Range and Glenshee, I'll be there!! The Goose and Glas Maol are my favourite runs in Scotland! Oh, and Flypaper at Glencoe of course!!
I avoid Cairngorm like the plague!!!
