Drones and Phones

There have been many reported air misses with drones. Here is the report of just one. If for instance a low flying aircraft approaching an airfield or a military jet on a fast low level training run the impact a 4km drone hitting something traveling at perhaps 420 knots would be "not good" and possibly fatal. It is an area of great concern to the CAA and FAA.

I know this is just a topic that has run a long time. Its just wrong, typical of the French bureaucratic system to invent a problem that doesn't exist. You don't need an "instructor" to go hill walking or climbing. Whats the difference? I'll tell you what the difference is...The B****y French. They only follow the laws that suit them. In a recent survey it was found that the french only only complied with approx 40% of the mandatory new laws instituted by the EU. UK 95% together with most of the rest of the EU countries. Rant over

I concure most of the above. Waiting to see how the snow is makes sense but just be aware that because it is over Xmas it can become booked up so don' t leave to long. I have been on budget ski hols over this period to both Le Corbier and Sauze D'oulx. There is usually enough snow for learners. I would also actively consider a day at a snow centre, that way you will have mastered most of the basic stuff which will probably allow you to explore the better bits of the mountains a little later in your week
The Aldi stuff is great for beginners. It usually hits their shelves late Oct early Nov, and you can kit yourself out for a fraction of the price the "serious" ski shops charge. Gloves, socks, thermal underclothes, goggles, jacket and trousers. They sell it all usually under the brand name "crane". Mountain Warehouse is another good call but a bit more pricy!. Enjoy
Ski Goggles over glasses

For me I now wear integrated glasses, ie my prescription lenses into the goggles lenses. Find a company that does the ones you want, give them your prescription and wait. I have to say they work great, the only disadvantage for me being that I still have to carry a pair of glasses so I can read the menues in the restuarants :D
