Hi,
I've just discovered that the Hemel Hempstead snowdome (www.thesnowcentre.com) are offering a very cheap deal starting this Tuesday.
An adult all day lift pass will only be £29-00 from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m to 5 p.m. and this will include hire of skis and boots.
I just wish I lived a bit nearer
Beginners should note, though, that you have to be able to ski already to go on the slope unless you are in a lesson.
I don't know if any of the other snowdomes have a deal this good?
Ally

Seems like a good deal but 9-5 but I think I might get bored !!!!

but you don't have to ski all day for it to be a good deal, one hour is £24, 2 hours is £36, so if you want to ski anything more than an hour it is cheaper than any other way - and you could always ski an hour or so, have a coffee, ski some more, have lunch, ski some more and get a good deal - but yes, anything more than about 2 hours can be a bit boring - but it makes Hemel a better deal than Milton Keynes, plus the snow at MK has been crap lately - Hemel is generally better

Thanks for all the PR stuff, but skiing a 150 Mt slope from 9-5 with coffee breaks is absolutely boring ...... if I want to ski 150 Mt slope I can go to the dry slope for a £5

I think if you practise your technique then ski-ing in a snow dome isn't at all boring. I was on the Milton Keynes one for two hours and really it wasn't long enough. I would have liked to stop for lunch and then gone back out to practise some more.
If you endlessly just go up the lift and ski straight down again then, yes, it probably would be boring. However, there are a great many things I need to improve on with my ski-ing and I find the snowdome is very good for this because you're not distracted the same way you are up a mountain - there are less variables (like the weather) to contend with.
It definitely saved me wasting a couple of hours on my ski holiday while I learnt to ski with my new boots.

I had 2 hours at the Chill FactorE and found it really boring, but I went on my own and literally went up the lift and straight down the slope about 25 times.
I did say I wouldn't go back again, but this deal is excellent for anyone who wants to go.
I think as Ally said I'd probably go with Mrs H or some friends, and ski an hour, have lunch and ski another hour or so.
It would help me this year in getting my ski legs back as I feel I am in worse shape physically than I have ever been going into a ski holiday - not weight but just legs not working as well as they used to!
The down side is, for a skier like myself, that the slope really isn't long enough and it is hard to really get into it, as Ian said its only 150m or so.
But with a few days off, it might give me something to do.
Do you need to book in advance?

Tony,
You don't have to book in advance, but they say it's advisable in case it's busy when you get there and you have to wait.
Their phone number is 0845 2589000.
