I asked the ortho guy about skiing in Feb and he seems to think it will be ok - for the reasons stated by Wickers & Far Queue that the ski boot will support it - he will let me know for certain in two weeks time when I go back and hopefully will be boot free :D
Thanks for the tip about the Gluwein Dave Mac - I will be sure to take that one up!

I had some strange unexplained problem with my big toe one year and was really worried about skiing. As soon as I put my boots on, what with the moulding and the hard shell, the problem was completely forgotten about. Fingers crossed for you.
